America has taken great strides in the fight against illegal drugs. Since 1979, the number of drug users has dropped from a high of 25 million in 1979 to the current level of 19.5 million. These figures show that anti-drug efforts do make a difference. While this is impressive progress, the level of substance abuse remains unacceptably high with 8.2% of Americans over the age of 12 having used an illegal drug within the past 30 days.
The Institute for Behavior and Health, Inc. (IBH) identifies and promotes new ideas to reduce the use of illegal drugs. Non-partisan and non-political, IBH was established in 1978 as a 501(c)3 organization.
